I registered and i got the free trial to try the platform but later that day I’ve been charged with the hobby plan. I did enter my credit card upon registering but i was not expecting to pay before my trial was finished.
Do i miss anything or what ?
Hi,
It sounds like the check to make sure the card is valid, rather than actual payments.
For more on that, check out this thread as it sounds similar:
Else email billing@fly.io if that doesn’t resolve it.
I don’t think it’s the automatic testing of the card since i was billed several hours after registration and i don’t see the money being back into my account.
Hi @Tricky, there are a couple of possibilities:
- This was a pre-auth fraud prevention thing. In this case, we immediately cancel the pre-auth but it can take up to 10 business days for your bank to show that the money was not captured.
- You created a new organisation and were billed for the Hobby plan. As a reminder, only personal organisations on newly-created accounts are eligible for free trials. Subsequent organisations are not eligible, and will be billed for the cost of their plan immediately. You will be shown a checkout UI explaining that your card is about to be billed when creating new organisations.
If you still have questions about this, please do reach out to billing@fly.io, as we aren’t able to discuss the specifics of your case on the community forum for privacy reasons!
I did make a new organisation in my attempt to just rename the Personal one but i immediately deleted. Was I charged for that?
Yes, you should’ve been presented with a checkout UI explaining that you were about to be charged. In this way, you’re charged up-front for the cost of the plan, so deleting the organisation happens after you’ve already been charged.
edit: @Tricky, I should’ve added: please email us at billing@fly.io for stuff like this, we’re pretty happy to discuss refunds, we’re just not able to do it on the community forum for the reason above.
i was changed nearly 8 hours after the organisation was deleted.
I sent you email about the matter
