What are the credit limits on phoenix.new?

I can’t find any documentation on how credits work on phoenix.new.

  • How many credits do you get?
  • How is usage calculated?
  • How often to they reset?
  • Is there a way to see how much you have used?

Thanks!

Hey there, here are some answers:

  • How many credits do you get?
    • The $20/mo subscription gives you access to phoenix.new and comes with $20/mo of included credit.
    • The subscription fee is charged at the beginning of each month and the included usage is granted at the same time.
  • How is usage calculated?
  • How often do they reset?
    • Credits are valid for 1 month from the moment of purchase.
    • Same rule applies for subscription-included credits - valid for 1 month from moment the subscription fee is charged
    • Worth noting (in case anyone finds themselves confused when July arrives) that this means most people will have 2 lots of included credits active at the same time for part of their 2nd month of subscription.
  • Is there a way to see how much you have used?
    • I don’t think there was when you posted this, but there is now a “battery indicator” in the phoenix.new UI, which gives you a rough sense of remaining credits. If you hover over that icon, you can see exactly how much credit you have left.

The battery indicator doesn’t seem to be working. I had the agent go on some long tangent I couldn’t get it to stop which blew through the credits. When I topped up the battery still showed 0.

You may have needed a hard refresh to see the update in usage, or there was a caching issue on our side. I see appropriate credits applied to your account with nearly full usage of the applied credits. I credited your account in any case for some more tinkering. Have fun!

I tried a hard refresh, assuming something like that was happening but no luck.

Thanks for the applied credits, I’m enjoying tinkering. I’m still trying to figure out how to keep it on track without burning too many credits offering it corrections. Sort of an interesting problem to tangle with.

Also, is there a good way to debug what’s going on if the preview button isn’t working?

Facing same issue. The battery indicator doesn’t seem to work. It drains out very fast. Many a times even with 0 tokens left as per indicator, it continues working.

I just loaded it with $20 and it shows 0.

We give new users a buffer so it’s a display bug that shows “0” when you have a bit of freebie on us left. I see all credits have applied properly on your account, so rest assured there you got your credits applied. I threw you some credits as thank you for the bug report. I’ll get the battery indicator fixed up. Thanks!

I had a similar issue. Turned out the server couldn’t spin up because of a bug. I prompted the LLM with start up the server and it saw and fixed the issue.

I’ll give that a shot later. I’m weighing ejecting the project and seeing if I can fix part of it locally with claude and some old fashioned hard work.
