Unable to deploy free tier app

I am building a side project. Barely any traffic (billing is less than $5 per month, waived).

I haven’t deployed in a couple of months. I am trying to do it now, but I get this error:

Error: failed to fetch an image or build from source: failed to launch VM: We require your billing information, please add it at …

I have used this method to deploy multiple times in the past without any problem

Has anything changed related to the free tier? How can I update my app?

You need to verify yourself with a payment method in order to use the hobby tier. I recall it used to work without that, but definitely does not anymore.

You’ll still get the same free allowances as before even after you add the payment method, but if you go over that usage you may be billed for the difference.
