Request for Refund and Plan Adjustment Due to Unexpected Charges

Dear Fly.io Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my concern and to request your assistance with an issue that recently arose with my Fly.io account.

Upon visiting your website, I noticed a prompt indicating that adding a credit card was necessary to activate my account. Under the impression that this was merely a step for account verification, I proceeded to bind my credit card to my account. However, I was not informed at any point that this action would automatically enroll me into the Hobby Plan, nor was I made aware of any impending charges associated with this plan.

To my surprise, I later discovered a charge on my credit card statement related to the Hobby Plan subscription on Fly.io, despite not having utilized any resources or services under this plan. This occurrence was unexpected and, frankly, quite disappointing, as there was no clear communication regarding the automatic plan upgrade and associated fees.

Given the circumstances, I kindly request the following actions be taken:

  1. Refund: I would greatly appreciate a full refund for the charges incurred due to the unexpected subscription to the Hobby Plan. I believe this is a fair request given the lack of clear communication on the matter.
  2. Plan Adjustment: Please revert my account to the Free Plan, as I had no intention of subscribing to a paid plan, especially without first assessing my usage needs and understanding the associated costs.

I trust that Fly.io values its customers and their satisfaction, and I believe this situation can be resolved amicably. Your prompt attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated, as it would help restore my confidence in your services.

Should you require any additional information or details from my end, please do not hesitate to contact me at [Your Email Address] or [Your Phone Number].

Thank you for your time and understanding. I look forward to your swift response and resolution to this issue.

Warm regards,

This was also my experience. The documentation was confusing and the prompts were not clear. I also thought I was just adding the credit card for verification but ended up subscribing to the paid Hobby Plan. There doesn’t even seem to be a way to unsubscribe without deactivating the account.
