Closing Shadow Bucket Deletes Data

I am trying to migrate data from aws s3 to tigris. I get the shadow bucket going and I see the data successfully transfer to tigris. Following the documentation, I then close the shadow bucket once I verify that all data is transferred.

My issue occurs after I close the bucket. The data in tigris disappears. It is as if closing the shadow purges the tigris database.

Am I doing this incorrectly? I’ve tried this with a 1mb size bucket and given it a day for transfer. When I close the shadow bucket the data disappears. I doubt the 1mb transfer was not completed in 24 hours.

Hi, @revolio,

Migrated data should be available in Tigris after disconnecting shadow bucket.
Could you please share you bucket name so we can investigate the issue.
Please send an email to help@tigrisdata.com if you’d like to share details privately.

Hi @revolio

If you just configure the shadow bucket and do nothing else the data doesn’t automatically transfer. You need to access the object through Tigris for the data to be transferred.

While you can see a list of all your files in Tigris, it’s just mirroring what is in the AWS S3 bucket without actually transferring the data.
