some of our apps started having severe performance issues in the last days or two and looking at the grafana it seems like the CPU baseline was cut by a huge factor? I tried doubling the vm type from cpu-1x to cpu-2x and the graph didn’t change much. Was there a policy change on the fly.io side anyone knows about?
Hi… Yep, that would be the final phase of CPU throttling kicking in:
https://community.fly.io/t/cpu-quotas-update/23473
(Sorry to hear that it’s been causing problems, though, .)
Wow, ok. So I guess my only option is to just keep increasing the VM size until it hopefully starts working again?
Maybe try the performance
CPU type for now, to get out of severe degradation territory; those will definitely work.
Then later inch down gradually with the shared
class (the cheaper ones subject to these quotas). If things were doing ok until just recently then there likely is some vCPU count that will do the trick…
Aside: @Hypermind’s proposed mid-range flex
class would be a better fit (I’m guessing)—but it unfortunately doesn’t yet exist…
Yup it seems they run at 8x. Though that’s way more ram than we need…
