Web traffic routed through Europe after maintenance today

After today’s maintenance we’ve noticed excessively high latency when accessing our site. We’re hosting in DFW and connections from North Carolina are now being sent through Europe (saw both London and Paris in a trace) before coming back to Dallas. We’re seeing pings above 200ms for users who normally get 50 or less due to this.

We’re currently looking into all the edge cases after the switchover. Do you happen to have a raw traceroute available and what is your local ISP?

Thanks Peter! My ISP is Google Fiber. Here’s a full IPv6 trace. It looks like it’s no longer going through Europe and things are stabilizing so it may not be an issue now.

Do you happen to also have an IPv4 trace while we’re at it? Just in case something is still wrong with IPv4.

It looks fine to me too although the route is different (it went to dfw while v6 possibly to ewr). Somehow the ewr v6 route is lower latency though.
