Unexpected High Outbound bandwidth NA/EU

Dear,

I just got an invoice for 22 dollars, a bill which is usally free and below the threshold or just over like 4-5 dollar. This app has been runnning a full year now, and only august was like this, wiht no substantial increase in usage. There is an unusual high outbound bandwith of 1TB. This app only has around 250 users, and not all are active all the time with onyl a few 10s requests per day usually, but now the graphs hows some days with hundres of requests. I’m seeing very high rates from regions that shouldnt be using this app, its a verylocal app in Belgium (region ams), but im getting hundreds of MB/s from LAX, DEN, DFW. Im suspecting maybe some bot activity requesting loads of data? Im putting up some rate limiting now, but I hope to have some more insights or maybe even IPs to block? Any ideas anyone? thanks. The dashboards are a bit too much for me to grasp, some help to gain more insights would be nice. Thank you

A rate limiter will sort you out; it’ll just be bots. Nothing Fly-specific, IMO; welcome to the internet :squinting_face_with_tongue:.

A rate-limiter will do that for you; it counts requests or data transfer per IP, and blocks the ones that are going bonkers. Normally you don’t have to also apply manual IP blocks.

You can likely apply for a refund under the Accident Forgiveness policy (but note I can’t speak for Fly).

Thanks for the answer. The amount isnt problematicn just don’t want it every month or getting even higher. Ill setup rate limiting and see what that does.
