strange usage in db

This is my postgres instance attached to app which has consumed more than 1 GB of data in less than a week.

With less than 4 users actively using my app (with less than 30 minutes a day of time), I wonder how does it add to 1 GB?

**If it is actually 1 GB, I think there is a scope for optimisation in db queries.

It’s likely used by the inner workings (stolon and/or replication) rather than transfer to your app.

The good news is that (currently, at least) if your postgres app has no public IP Fly have said they won’t bill for that usage

Outbound data transfer for Postgres

Stolon and replication do a lot of traffic, even on idle DBs. It doesn’t really scale with usage but it’s kind of a scary number. We’re going to turn off billing for postgres data transfer until we can otherwise exclude in region traffic. We’ll have to charge a (reduced) cross region rate at some point, but there’s no reason y’all should have to wait on us to do more networking work to reap those benefits.
