Shipping Fly.io logs + metrics to Parseable (object-storage-native observability)

If you’re looking to ship your Fly logs and platform metrics to an external observability backend, here’s a setup we’ve documented for Parseable - an open-source, OTel-native observability platform that stores data directly on S3/object storage (no proprietary storage layer).

Two pipelines, both deployed as standalone Fly apps alongside your workload:

  • Logs - via fly-log-shipper, one app per org, no changes to your existing fly.toml
  • Metrics - scrapes Fly’s managed Prometheus endpoint and writes into Parseable

P.S. We submitted a PR (#76) to add the Parseable sink upstream to fly-log-shipper. It’s been open for a few weeks without a review - if anyone from the Fly team or community has bandwidth to take a look, would really appreciate it!

I don’t speak for Fly, but it may be worth noting that another log shipper had their PR rejected recently.
