Revamped Billing page with a new Cost Explorer

We’ve rebuilt the billing page to load faster, focus on the most important information, and we’ve added a new Cost Explorer that lets you break down spending by app and a date range.

Here’s what it looked like before:

Here’s a quick preview of what it looks like now:

Billing page

We’ve refocused the Billing page largely so it involved less scrolling for the most important parts, which coincidentally reduces a lot of page load strain making it snappier, more reliably.

The billing page itself is less visually cluttered now:

  • Invoice preview and recent invoice totals are shown upfront with a link to view the full invoices
  • All invoices are listed on a separate page instead of stuffed into the sidebar
  • Linked organizations moved to their own section
  • The remaining information was redesigned to flow a little better

Cost Explorer

The Cost Explorer lets you drill down by organization, app, region (when possible) to see day-by-day usage as it would be applied to your invoice totals.

Caveats

We’re continuing to work with our underlying billing provider to get better and more interesting angles on this kind of data, efficiently. In particular, today, we can’t show this UI for organizations with many hundreds of apps or more. Coincidentally, a click-around UI is probably the wrong thing for these kinds of organizations anyways, so we’re also talking about how else to serve this kind data to you in useful ways.

Try it out!

You can try this all out now, today, under your Billing page on the dashboard. Let us know what you think!
