Reliability issues: Cannot login, Cannot launch, Cannot deploy

I suggested fly.io to a client, he was sold.

It was all good, but when I wanted to deploy his app to fly via the launch widget I kept getting pushed back to the previous page right after selecting the github repo selection page. Being fraustrated, we deployed this with CLI for now and expected it to work out.

Even there, you know you cannot deploy apps using the fly deploy tokens, but you can launch the app using the old api token. It was a fraustrating experinece once again.

Today I was going to record a tutorial for him, I used the fly auth login , which got stuck at Waiting for session... Done, which then got solved after a while. And then fly auth whoami got stuck.

I have been facing issues for a few days already, it’s not just today. I cannot deploy, client cannot deploy, cannot launch properly from the dashboard etc.

tbh, I became so fraustrated that I started to write my own dashboard for fly, and is halfway there; as I cannot let this experience ruin my reputation to the clients who wants to deploy and edit configurations from the dashboard.

While writing this post, I see the status update from the status page. But trust me, I have been facing this issue for long time, and the status pages never mentioned anything.

Honestly fly.io is an amazing place, but the UX to launch, deploy and modify configuration (ie: the same thing as fly.toml file, but just visually, or scale up or down machines) from the frontend is something that should be addressed.

If there is any way I can help out, please let me know. I am willing to help out this amazing platform.

There’s not a lot for readers to go on here. Would you supply the stdout from flyctl deploy --verbose so we can see some logs?

The issue was with the UI mostly.
