On demand snapshots, snapshot retention period and restoration

Hello again,
I have a few questions regarding snapshots.

Fly.io performs daily storage-based snapshots of each of your provisioned volumes.
– In: Multi-region PostgreSQL: Restoring a PostgresSQL cluster

  1. What is the retention period for said snapshots?

  2. Can you trigger a snapshot? Is this feature planned?

  3. How do you restore a snapshot that is not from a PostgreSQL database? Wouldn’t it make sense that flyctl volume create would accept a --snapshot-id just like flyctl postgres create?

Thank you.

Hi! The retention period for those snapshots is 5 days, unfortunately there is no way to trigger those snapshots at this time, and restoring snapshots is only supported for PostgreSQL at this time, and only when creating a new cluster

Thank you for the reply.

@zee Do you perhaps know when managing snapshots for non PostgreSQL volumes will be available?

My team and I would also very much like an answer to this question.

Hey @zee did the possibility to trigger snapshot creation moved on from the February?
Is it possible to trigger snapshot creation now?
