Many emails about: "TLS certificate renewal was unsuccessful"

I received eight emails like this recently, but I do have IPv6 addresses pointed at them. Does anyone know how to check if something is wrong?

We recently tried to provision a certificate for the domain example.com in your app app-name, but were unable to do so.

Here is the error message we received when provisioning your certificate:

An IPv6 address pointed at us is required.

The sites are online and there are IPv6 addresses pointed at them.

sorry folks, we disabled these emails now - looks like the code for them didn’t properly check DNS challenges, or that the certificate was actually expiring.

Thanks, that must be it then. Everything looks okay. There are AAAA records.
