EXT4-fs (vda): unable to read superblock

We are getting the following error regularly since the last week:

EXT4-fs (vda): unable to read superblock
ERROR Error: couldn’t mount /dev/vda onto /lower/dev/vda, because: EIO: I/O error

These machines are re-deployed in Mumbai (bom). Machines from other regions are fine.

If we deploy the app (without making any change), the issue goes away. Then after one or two days, the issue comes back again. Many of our apps are getting affected like this.

What’s happening?

If you can, do please search for errors before posting; it’ll save you stacks of time:

I actually checked before posting. I couldn’t find anything helpful.

I believe I’ve seen the answer to this in the last fortnight, and it will be available in a search. I’m afraid I need to import my Stack Overflow cynicism here; people who claim to have searched have given up too early, or not searched at all. Please try again.

While you’re busy searching again, please also update your post with what your machine is for. The existing reports of this error seem to be coincident with people running their own Postgres cluster; it may be helpful for readers to know if that applies to you too.

It’s happening to my Web App server, API server and Postgres deployments. So it’s not limited to Postgres only.
