Hi - While I find the solution technically interesting, I am trying to understand for what use cases / applications Fly make sense VS hyperscale cloud providers (AWS, GCP etc.)

Do we have any examples?

We have people using Fly for all kinds of (sometimes surprising) reasons. Many people like the simple deploys, so they replace Heroku for cheaper/faster apps.

People also do computation close to their end users, like image generation, video/audio transcoding, etc. We know of one dev (at least) doing live Tensorflow lookups to detect abusive traffic.

We’re a pretty good place to manage a bunch of certificates too, a bunch of devs use Fly to generate certificates for their customer domains: [https://fly.io/docs/app-guides/custom-domains-with-fly/](https://fly.io/docs/app-guides/custom-domains-with-fly/)

There’s a fair bit of extra context and discussion about this here: [https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22616857](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22616857)
