Got your attention there, I bet!
You probably got an email from us yesterday about a Terms of Service update. The story is in the email. It’s pretty boring — well, exciting for us, boring for you. tl;dr: we’re working to bring more partners onto the platform, so you can get managed databases or telemetry or security from other services you like using while using us at the same time.
The fun parts of that project are technical (bug Joshua and Ben about how the Macaroon tokens for these things work). The annoying parts are logistical. One annoying part is that we need to harmonize our TOS with those of the other vendors we’re working with.
There’s nothing really interesting in the harmonized Terms, except a new “Marketing” clause, which includes the boilerplate “we can use your logo” that appears in enterprise contracts.
It makes zero sense for us to ever use your logo over your objection or against your will; a logo is a reference, and the obvious thing you don’t ever want to do is to offer someone a bad reference.
We’re still dialing things in with partnerships. We like talking to our users. If we get any of this stuff wrong, we’ll keep turning the knobs until they’re right. Fire away with any concerns or questions!
