Something similar was already discussed [here](https://github.com/lttle-cloud/ignition)

But for me the biggest question is: when will it be possible to restore a checkpoint to different sprite? So that I can build a golden-image (or golden-sprite if you like 😄)

And will that forked sprite fully count against my storage quota on the ‘Subscription Plan’? Lets say I pick ‘Level 1000’ where I have 600 GB storage. If my golden-image is 1 GB, I can only spin up 600 instead of 1000 active MicroVMs?

In the [release notes](https://sprites.dev/release-notes) you already find an entry that forking is already supported?

Forking Sprites is one of the most popular requests. We’ll have more to share soon, so keep an eye on our [fresh-produce](https://community.fly.io/c/fresh-produce/27) posts.

Quick note - plans don’t impose an upper limit on resource use. The level 1000 plan includes 600 GB-_months_ of storage usage in the price, but you can use more than that, we’ll just charge standard usage-based rates (see bottom of [sprites.dev](http://sprites.dev) for this rate) for any storage usage over 600 GB-months.

I’m going to update the plans page to fix the unit from “GB” to “GB-months”, so this is clearer.

Thanks a lot for the replies.

Yeah, pricing is hard 😅 We also did a lot of experiments regarding our pricing. However, in comparison to our customer base most devs understand usage-based pricing. But the ‘Levels’ are a bit more difficult to grok. If I pick no level, how much concurrent active sprites I’m allowed to run? And are you charging for additional things like egress?

I believe we limit to 10 for orgs with no plan.

Levels give bigger concurrent active allowance, and come with usage credit. The value of the credit is pretty substantial vs paying the standard usage-based rates, so if your usage aligns with the amounts offered by one of the plans then you benefit from significant cost savings.

Sprites bill for CPU, RAM and storage (hot and normal) only, as detailed at the bottom of [sprites.dev](http://sprites.dev).
