I signed up for an account, immediately created an organisation for my business, and added a payment card to it. Since then, I’ve had daily emails telling me my organisation is about to be suspended unless I add a payment card to it.
I understand now that I automatically had a “Personal” organisation, and that’s what it was warning me about. Other services that work this way tend to treat personal resources and organisation resources differently, and I don’t think it’s clear from a UX perspective how this works. The email doesn’t mention which organisation, and it’s unintuitive to think of personal resources being an organisation.
So what is the correct way to sign up for an account? Sign up, and rename the personal organisation to the business organisation? Is there any difference between a personal organisation and a normal organisation? Or should I have immediately created an organisation for my business and then deleted the personal organisation? Is there any downside to deleting the personal organisation? It says it cannot be recreated. This isn’t like deleting the default VPC in AWS is it?
When I tried deleting my personal organisation, the delete button remained greyed out after I typed in the organisation name to confirm. This was confusing at first until I noticed that you have auto-capitalisation enabled for that field and the check you make is case-sensitive. So you told me to type jim-dabell-404, I typed jim-dabell-404, but what was entered into the field was Jim-dabell-404, and this would not let me progress until I changed it all to lowercase.
