As I understand, you have removed the free allowances, as they now cost $29 or more. This is quite disappointing and unfortunate. Are there any plans to reinstate the free allowances? The $5 doesn’t even cover 50% of the previous free allowances. Additionally, is there any way to switch back to a legacy plan that offers them?
You could just, you know, pay for the service that you use. This only impacts new organisations anyway so really only matters if you were planning to abuse the free allowances.

$5 is sufficient for only 2 VMs and some storage. In contrast, the free allowances provide 3 VMs, 3GB of storage, 160GB of network usage, and up to $5 in free credits. They could limit these allowances to personal organization, currently people would still likely abuse the system because, theoretically, nothing changes. Instead of creating new organizations, you should just create new accounts.
Just to clarify to avoid confusing anyone else, we haven’t removed the free allowances per se. Anyone with an organisation on a plan that had free allowances prior to the release of PAYG still has free allowances. PAYG is currently our only plan without them.
No we don’t plan to give free allowances on the PAYG plan. I’m sorry that the total value of free usage is lower, I can understand that’s disappointing. Unfortunately, it’s not feasible for us to continue offering it.
No, if you have an organisation on the Legacy Hobby plan and you don’t want to give up the free allowances, you should avoid changing your plan.
The legacy plan is limited. You can only have 3 machines……
On the PAYG you can have unlimited(afaik)
Tho 5$ can’t cover much….
if you make the machines sleep when idle you can get more machines (or volumes,…)from these 5$
Even on Legacy Hobby you can make more than 3 machines, they just won’t be free.
