fly side effect: app-name.fly.dev became the canonical search result for app-name.com

fly.io :

A) Are there any recommended ways of handling this canonical search engine issue ?

B) I’ve been also having to compete with this community logs , as I had mentioned my domain here a couple times when describing the problems, all of which I’ve gotten terrific customer support, but a few days later the page ranking at google prefers to show all the issues first.

Help, appreciated on A and B above.

#rant: You would think page rank would take into consideration the context i ! huhh.. are we not in the age of AI ? or is page ranking at google not account for this. idk.

There have been many requests remove the default yourapp.fly.devbut I don’t believe that’s ever been addressed.
The only way that I know of now is to have your server detect the request manually and redirect to your canonical URL.

Thank you, that works fine. I also like having the myapp.fly.dev . I just don’t why google will pick the fly.dev domain to be the canonical site. This is especially annoying because it was working fine on google search engine, until it flips !!
My second part of my question was, re-phrasing it a bit:

I have no idea why google does that, maybe b/c the fly.dev is older and when all things are equal, it ranks using age?

As for B, I don’t quite understand the problem.

Are you using canonical link tags?

Thought about that, but the problem is that there’s only 1 page and two entries. So any tags on the page, will be true for the two domains. I ended up doing the URL redirect, and supposedly this will help strongly with the canonical page issue.

Thank you, perhaps I misunderstood.
