debug.fly.dev routed to Singapore, while my location is in Europe

Hi!

I am based in Europe, but debug.fly.dev is routed to fly.io region sin (Singapore) for me.

My local ISP DNS server, Google DNS (8.8.8.8), Cloudflare DNS (8.8.8.8) all resolve debug.fly.dev to IP addresses in Singapore. This makes flyctl commands rather “slow” for me, because of the extra round-trip to Asia and back to Europe (170ms instead of 17-20ms to nearby regions; I am on wifi  ).

I would expect to get routed to to a fly.io region somewhere closer (ams, fra, cdg, …).

Any ideas what may be wrong? Especially on my computer/setup!

we use anycast, so the same IP addresses are advertised in all locations. sometimes, an ISP decides to route to the wrong location and we have to fix it…
could you send a traceroute (or, mtr -rwbzo "LSD NABVW" debug.fly.dev) so we can see the route?

Thank you so much @lillian Here is the mtr result:

We’ve reported this to our networking upstreams as that’s where the issue seems to be. Thanks!
