agent auth bug is back

*an old bug has returned*

/login on claude code is not working as expected, the return address post-auth is localhost

solution is to copy paste the url from the interface, fix it in a text editor because newline chars, then copy that to the browser window. this will give you a token to paste back into the tui. unless, you accidentally accepted the “no flickering” option, because if you did, you might as well nuke the sprite and start over, as copy paste won’t work there.

Ah, would you expand on this a bit? I recently started running Claude in a Docker container, and it behaves quite differently to Claude run directly on a Linux host. It loses its mouse-control primitives for a start, but pasting behaviour changes too.

One technique you may find useful, especially if Ctrl-V or Cmd-V does not work for you in your terminal, is to right-click to get the usual terminal context menu, and of course that contains a Paste option. I found, on a Linux machine, that ordinarily right-clicks are blocked, but one can double-right-click, and the menu pops up anyway.

this is normal, sprite CLI is supposed to forward localhost ports to your laptop for things like this (or localhost dev servers, or such). are you seeing this not happen?

the context is not trivial: ghostty + tmux + sprite + claude code (no flickering mode)

things had been working fine — as i haven’t really create many new sprites, and have been avoiding the no-flikering option. it seems the right-click menu does not work under no-flickering mode, under normal circumstances i have tmux copy the selection, but the whole thing crumbles with the new claude code (optional) mode.

i hope i am not causing unnecessary confusion here.

claude code in the sprite will pop open a new tab on my local machine, then, after i’m done authorizing, anthropic redirects me to localhost, but that’s not listening for anything. (ex: hxxp://localhost:39673/callback?code=TUwfK6…&state=8TGpwu…) — currently have to do this by copying the url, then come back with the code.

sprite version v0.0.1-rc48 (27f6818)

hm, yeah, it works for me:

your sprite CLI is a few weeks old, could you try upgrading? I seem to have sprite version 2026-09-02 (6390abf).

i figured it out, and it’s embarrassing:

once that is ticked off, the auth sequence works fine

selecting text while in non-flickering mode is still broken but i can live without that one

Hmm, I would be a bit wary of running auth over unencrypted channels. I wonder if there is a more security-oriented solution.
